Part Fourteen
December 2004

There is much hope and promise given us for a new tomorrow, despite the fact that this is a time of gross, spiritual darkness! It is the midnight hour of this new Day! Yet, we have the hope and promise of the appearing of Christ during this midnight hour, or at “the cockcrowing,” which is the third night-watch, as well as “in the morning.” (Mt. 25:6 & Mk. 13:35). It is important, therefore, that we not get bogged down with the affairs of this world, as well as the circumstances of this long, dark night, lest He come and find us sleeping. The spiritually wise will keep a watchful eye open toward the Heavens, that they might see Him when He appears! There is much at stake during this momentous hour, when the Kingdom of God is unfolding before us and the prophetic Word of the Lord is being fulfilled all around us! It is also the time when those who watch for Him shall see Him when He appears. Jesus said, “Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all (the elect of every age), Watch” (Mk. 13:36-37).

Midnight is generally a time of judgment unto correction. Job said, “the people shall be troubled at midnight” (Job 34:20), and indeed we are! And, “at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt” (Ex. 12:29). And the Psalmist said, “Thou art my portion, O LORD: I have said that I would keep thy words. I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word. I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies. I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments. The bands of the wicked have robbed me: but I have not forgotten thy law. At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments. I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts” (Ps. 119:57-63). No doubt we can all relate to the Psalmist’s experience! Like him, we told the Lord we would keep His words. We sought the Lord with our whole heart for His favor. We asked Him to be merciful to us according to His Word. We deeply meditated on our own ways, whether we were walking in His will or not. If we saw that we were negligent, we turned our feet to walk according to His testimonies. We made haste to keep His commandments. Although the wicked have “robbed” us, we have not forgotten His law. During this midnight hour, we will give thanks unto the Lord for His righteous judgments. And we have other companions among this company of elect ones, who also fear the Lord and keep His precepts, as we do (Rev. 1:9).

Further, “At midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him” (Mt. 25:6). “And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed” (Acts 16:25-26). All this took place at midnight, according to the Word of the Lord. Therefore, we may expect some wonderful things to take place in us, for us and with us, during this midnight hour. That which may appear to be of the darkness, having some rather negative, dismal and gloomy possibilities, may turn out to be something very positive for those who are appointed of their Father to inherit the Kingdom! Not only do we give praise to the Lord for His righteous judgments during this midnight hour, but we will also sing praises to Him and His great Name, knowing He will deliver us. The deliverance of Paul and Silas may be duplicated today; it is possible that the elect of the Lord may be delivered out of their “prison house” of the flesh during this midnight hour, thus awakening the dawn of the new morning and loosening the bands of the flesh that bind everyone else! When we are fully set free and transformed, we shall indeed awaken the dawn of the new, Kingdom morning. That will be a morning of unending joy, peace, righteousness, full salvation and total restoration (see Ps. 46:5, 57:8 & 108:2, Amplified). And what glory that will be!

Other wonderful events took place at midnight. For example, Samson arose at midnight and took hold of the gates of the city, tore them off and carried them away to a hill above the city (Judges 16:3). The writer to the Hebrews said of him and others, “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises ...” (Heb. 11:32-33). Just as the Lord had sons of faith in history who did what Samson and others did, so also does He have sons of faith and promise today, who will, as a result of their union with Christ, their Head, Lord and King, subdue the carnal, corrupt, Babylonish kingdoms of man, put them all under their feet, and replace them with the glorious and all-powerful government of the Kingdom of our Father!

Of course, the most glorious of all times is the dawn of the new morning! The night is a time of darkness, both in the natural and in the spiritual, while the morning is a time of increased light, whether in the natural or the spiritual. Therefore, we wait for and anticipate the dawn of the new morning more than any other time. But when it comes to our spiritual desires and ambitions, we wait for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning (Ps. 130:6). When all Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness and desired to return to Egypt, they said to the people, “At even, then ye shall know that the LORD hath brought you out from the land of Egypt: And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the LORD” (Ex. 16:6-7).

Evening time, or sun down, is generally the beginning of a new Day or a new era in God! But evening time, as well as all other parts of the night, are also times of tribulation and trouble! Yet, the entire night is, more importantly, a time of deliverance for God’s people. But because of the need for some strife and conflict to bring forth that deliverance, we will not appreciate that deliverance until the morning dawns. Then everything will be revealed by the Light of Christ, Who makes the difference between the spiritual light of the morning and the spiritual darkness of the night. While others dwell in spiritual darkness, the elect rejoice in the true Light of Christ! Their lives shall be clearer than the noonday; they will rise above the darkness of the world; they shall shine as the Light of the morning (Job. 11:13-19). And those who will reign in the Kingdom of God “shall be as the light of the morning” (2 Sam. 23:4). We are familiar with the Light - we prefer the Light to the darkness of man, for we were there in spirit, “when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy” (Job 38:7).

Crossing Our Typical Jordan at Night

The trials of the night prepare us to move forward and onward in God, to the next realm in the Spirit where there will be a grand deliverance for all the elect. We read this concerning David and his company: “Then David arose, and all the people that were with him, and they passed over Jordan: by the morning light there lacked not one of them that was not gone over Jordan” (2 Sam. 17:22). The significance of this event for all the elect of the Lord at this time is very meaningful and important! What David and his friends did then, we will do also, but with a greater and more significant purpose in God! The name Jordan, from the original Hebrew, means a descender. That original Hebrew word is taken from another, meaning to descend, to bring down, to cast down, or to fall down, and also to go downward to a lower region, or to go downward to the enemy. Jordan is symbolic of death, which is the great enemy of all mankind and the whole creation. It is the great enemy that all people have faced when their term here in this earthly realm is finished. And that powerful adversary of death will be the last enemy to be put under the feet of this Christ company. All death shall surely be conquered by the might and power of the reign of Christ (1 Cor. 15:25-26).

Mount Hermon is the source of the Jordan River in the natural. As we consider these two places, we will see that there are prophetic parallels, both in the natural and the spiritual. The Jordan River, which originated at Mount Hermon, spiritually and prophetically represents death. But Jesus was transfigured on Mount Hermon to illustrate the blessed truth that the source of the typical Jordan has been cleansed and redeemed by the death and Life of Jesus Christ. As a result of the transfiguration of Jesus on Mount Hermon, the Jordan River now represents a new Life to us, even the Life and Glory of Christ! This was prophetically foretold when John baptized many believers in the Jordan. All who were baptized of John in the Jordan River were symbolically burying the old man that they might arise from that "death" to live a new life in Christ (Ro. 6:4). Our Father never does anything without a reason or a purpose. For us, crossing the typical Jordan now indicates that we are, once and for all time, burying the old carnal, Adamic man of the flesh, leaving “him” there where he can never again trouble and torment us.
All that Father has done in the earth was done with a distinct and sovereign purpose. I firmly believe one of Father's purposes in showing forth the Life of Christ that day on Mount Hermon, or on "the mount of transfiguration," was to illustrate the great truth that the process of death, as symbolized by the Jordan River, has been reversed in Christ. The Jordan River, once typically known as the river of death flowing from Mount Hermon, is transformed at its source, to become Life to all. This is to be seen typically and spiritually! Everything about the spiritual symbolism of the Jordan River and Mount Hermon, or "the mount of transfiguration," illustrates the reversal of sin and death, and our return to our Father, through our Lord Jesus Christ (see De. 30:1-3, 8, Ps. 90:3, Is. 10:21-22, 35:10, 51:11, Jer. 31:7-14, Hos. 3:5, 6:1). Therefore, when we cross our typical Jordan, we will be forever set free of this sinful, carnal, Adamic nature and mind! How wisely our Father illustrates His redemptive truths and purposes, through His grand design in all of nature, for our understanding and experience! The metamorphosis of a mere worm into a beautiful butterfly is a good example of this great truth! For the elect of the Lord, crossing the typical Jordan will give us a new Life, which is the fullness of the Life of Christ!

While all we have written above is true, there is yet a spiritual event or experience we must go through at the typical Jordan, which will transform us and give us the fullness of the Life of Christ. No matter what the Jordan River represents to us, we must cross over it to get to the other side, for it is on the other side of the typical Jordan where our typical Promised Land is. We must cross the typical Jordan to receive our new bodies! The scripture we quoted on page three tells us that David and his company “passed over Jordan: by the morning light there lacked not one of them that was not gone over Jordan.” This tells us that they began their journey to cross over Jordan during the night, so that when the morning came, not one of them had failed to cross the Jordan River! Does this speak to us today? Indeed it does!

The elect of this hour have already begun their spiritual journey! They are not waiting for the morning, but are now crossing the typical Jordan spiritually, just as the twelve “spies” went into Canaan to spy out the land (see Num. 13). This shows clearly that we are done with the old order! We no longer walk according to the old ways of the dead past! We no longer participate in the old, dead church order! We no longer live spiritually as we did in the past! We have moved to higher ground! We are climbing this last mountain! We have launched out into the deep! We are among the first to cross the typical Jordan, which is now at “flood stage!” For us to be the first to cross over our typical Jordan spiritually, or in the Spirit, parallels the experience of the “twelve spies,” who went in first to spy out the land. And we are also giving a good report!

As David and his friends were the first to cross over Jordan, before the rest of Israel, so also shall we be the first to cross over that significant and typical river, which represents both death and Life to us. An anointed and chosen people, which are the elect of the Lord, shall be the first to cross over their typical Jordan. Thus, it is written of that firstfruits people, which we are: “These are they that went over Jordan in the first month” (1 Chron. 12:15). This is our pattern; this is our prophetic example! The word “first,” as used here, means the first in time, place or rank, while the word “month,” refers to the new moon, or a new month. That word is taken from another, original word, meaning to be new. Therefore, the term, “in the first month,” could also read, “in the beginning of the Day or time when God is making all things new.” And that is what this new Kingdom Day is! It is a Day of new beginnings! It is a Day of first things and also of new things! And to participate in the spiritual events and circumstances of the Kingdom of God, which makes this a new Day, we must first be made new - we must first become a new creation in God! And when we become a new creation in the Kingdom of God, we will no longer walk in church order! We will no longer have a part in the old, former Pentecostal order, for we have made the transition from that old order to the new Kingdom order, by the leading of the Spirit of the Lord. We are of that firstfruits company who shall cross over our typical “Jordan” at the first call of the Spirit! We shall participate with the Lord, our King, in this grand and glorious new Kingdom Day, which also is a Day of new beginnings!

Some time after David and his friends had crossed over Jordan, the entire nation of Israel could also cross over. This tells us that the firstfruits company, which we are, will cross the typical Jordan first, thus making it possible for all others to make that same journey. David and his company crossed over first, then all Israel followed. This is our prophetic example! Then, after David and his friends had crossed over (as mentioned in vs. 15), we read: “And Absalom passed over Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him” (2 Sam. 17:24). Many times in scripture, the Divine principle of the firstfruits is given for our learning, our instruction and as our example. To cross over Jordan, in prophetic type, is to cross over from this “life,” to the Life that is beyond Jordan. If Christ is within us, crossing Jordan brings us into the Heavenly presence of the Lord, our Savior and our King. But if Christ is not yet within people, such as the multitudes of this world, crossing Jordan will only bring them to experience the “sleep” of death. Those multitudes are not beyond the power of Christ to redeem and change them, for they are only “sleeping” (see Jo. 11:11, 1 Cor. 11:30, 15:51 & 1 Thess. 4:14).

For example, Jesus said Lazarus was only sleeping when he died (Jo. 11:11-14). Spiritually speaking, death is “sleep,” for our souls and spirits cannot die. The word “sleepeth,” comes from the Greek word, “koimao,” meaning, to put to sleep, to slumber, figuratively, to decease. To “sleep,” as in the death of Lazarus, might possibly refer to an interim realm where God puts the spirits and souls of people when they pass from this life and before they enter the next Life. We read of scriptural instances where God put certain ones in a “deep sleep” (see Gen. 2:21, 1 Sam. 26:12, Job 4:13 & 33:15). And in some scriptures, “sleep” clearly means death, as we know it (see also Acts 13:36 and 1 Cor. 15:51).

But in our case, considering that Christ is within us, and within us in greater fullness, all who are among His chosen, firstfruit sons will cross the typical Jordan FIRST to inherit their new Promised Land, along with the fullness of the Life and Glory of Christ, in that glorious, new Kingdom Land! For us, crossing Jordan takes on new meaning! Now, the old songs we once sang about the Jordan mean much more to us! We once sang the words, “On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand and cast a wistful eye.” Now, not only do we cast a wistful eye to the Land beyond the typical Jordan, but we are assured of the Spirit that that new Kingdom Land is our inheritance. We also once sang the song, “O this is like Heaven to me, yes this is like Heaven to me. I’ve crossed over Jordan to Canaan’s fair land, and this is like Heaven to me.” What truth there is for us now in the words of this old song! “Canaan’s fair land” was on the other side of the Jordan, just as our new Promised Land of the Kingdom of God is on the other side of the typical Jordan! We have crossed over Jordan in the Spirit to spiritually view that new Land, just as Caleb and Joshua did before they inherited it, to see the many abundant promises and provisions that are there.

It will indeed be Heaven on earth for us when we do cross over that typical Jordan! We shall cross the Jordan river, which is symbolic of both Life and death, to inherit the new Life and Glory of the Kingdom of our Father, that is on the other side! Then there is that wonderful old song, “I won’t have to cross Jordan alone. Jesus died for my sins to atone. When the darkness I see, He’ll be waiting for me. I won’t have to cross Jordan alone.” Thank God also for the truth of this old song! We will not have to cross Jordan alone, for Christ is within us and His presence and His Kingdom also surrounds us (Lu. 17:21, Amp.)! Not only will we cross Jordan in the triumphant victory of the cross of Christ, but our Lord and Savior will also accompany us! And then, when our journey is complete and we have made the necessary transition, old, sinful Adam will be removed from us! Then, our Blessed Lord will give us the very fullness of Himself, including His more abundant LIFE, which is the greater Life of the Kingdom of God!

“I See Men As Trees.” is the title of a series we wrote over thirty years ago. In those booklets, we wrote of people as trees. When Jesus healed a blind man, the man’s first response was, “I see men as trees, walking” (Mk. 8:24). Then, we read, “After that he (Jesus) put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly” (Mk. 8:25). At this point, we might ask, did Jesus heal the man the first time He touched him? Was it really necessary for our blessed Lord to touch the man twice for him to be healed? The answer I believe, is this: Jesus healed the blind man the first time He touched the man, but his spiritual sight was restored first. And when Jesus touched the blind man the second time, his natural sight was fully restored to him. This gave him the ability to see things clearly and as they really are in this world. To see men spiritually, or as trees, is a prophetic, spiritual truth based on the word of God.

King Nebuchadnezzar told Daniel a dream he had, trusting that Daniel could give the interpretation. Thus, we read, “The visions of my head [as I lay] on my bed were these: I saw, and behold, [there was] a tree in the midst of the earth, and its height was great. The tree grew and was strong and its height reached to the heavens, and the sight of it reached to the end of the whole earth. Its leaves were fair and its fruit abundant, and in it was food for all. The living creatures of the field found shade under it, and the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches; and all flesh was fed from it. I saw in the visions of my head [as I lay] on my bed, and behold, a watcher, a holy one, came down from heaven. He cried aloud [with might] and said, Cut down the tree and cut off its branches; shake off its leaves and scatter its fruit. Let the living creatures flee from under it and the fowls from its branches. Nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, bound with a band of iron and bronze, in the midst of the tender grass of the field. Let him be wet with the dew of the heavens, and let him share the lot of the living creatures in the grass of the earth. Let his nature and understanding be changed from a man's and let a beast's nature and understanding be given him, and let seven times [or years] pass over him. This sentence is by the decree of the [heavenly] watchers and the decision is by the word of the holy ones, to the intent that the living may know that the Most High [God] rules the kingdom of mankind and gives it to whomever He will and sets over it the humblest and lowliest of men. [Dan 2:21; 5:21.]” (Daniel 4:10-17, AMP).

When Daniel gave the interpretation of the dream, by the Spirit of the Lord, he told Nebuchadnezzar that the dream was a revelation of the king’s future life. Daniel also told the king that God would humble him, and would keep him in that lowly state until his reason and his wisdom returned to him. At the end of the testing period, the king would finally and fully understand that the Most High God rules in the kingdoms of men, and gives it to whom ever He chooses. King Nebuchadnezzar would be humbled and humiliated to the point where he would acknowledge the Lord God of Israel as the supreme King and Lord of all! And perhaps the Lord has a similar plan for the rest of Christendom in this Day as well! Just as Daniel predicted, King Nebuchadnezzar had his “tree” cut down, which is to say, his life was reduced to that of an animal and he ate grass like an ox. This “beastly” condition continued in Nebuchadnezzar’s life until he fully realized and acknowledged “that the Most High [God] rules the kingdom of mankind and gives it to whomever He will and sets over it the humblest and lowliest of men.”

Although this condition was to befall the proud and arrogant, Babylonian king, King Nebuchadnezzar, who had destroyed Jerusalem and captured many of the elite of Israel, yet this same “fallen” condition has happened to all mankind. Because of the fallen, sinful nature of old Adam that is within us all, we are all like that tree of man, which has been cut down to the ground as King Nebuchadnezzar’s life was, leaving only a stump in the earth bound with a band of iron and brass. When Daniel prophesied, saying, “the sight of it reached to the end of the whole earth,” he was speaking of the spread of mankind throughout all the earth as individuals with that same “beastly” nature. Indeed, we are all bound and fettered by the sinful, Adamic nature and mind! All mankind are as that tree that was cut down; like Nebuchadnezzar, we are all bound by the severe limitations of this fleshly, sinful, carnal nature. That sinful nature of old Adam has bound us as surely and as securely as a strong ring of iron and bronze would bind the stump of a tree! We are all as that stump of roots that was left in the earth, with a band of iron and bronze around us, limiting us and preventing us from being all that God intends for us to be! But the Day of our deliverance has come! We shall soon be set free from this limited condition, to soar in the Heavens with the Lord and do His will in all the earth for His glory and honor!

But let us look at Daniel’s prophecy to see how we have been limited! The original prophetic dream applied to King Nebuchadnezzar. This is clear enough! But we may also see that it applies to all mankind as well. When Daniel spoke the Word of the Lord, saying, “leave the stump of its roots in the earth, bound with a band of iron and bronze, in the midst of the tender grass of the field,” we can see that this also refers to all mankind. All of us have been limited and held back from our appointed destiny and from our greater spiritual potential, by the decree of the Lord! But this decree is not the final destiny of man! The corporate Man, who is becoming the image and likeness of God, shall brake loose from the bands that have bound us these many millenniums, by the Spirit, and we shall become all that Father purposed us to BE in His Kingdom!

The next part of Daniel’s prophecy says this: “Let him be wet with the dew of the heavens.” This is a spiritual prophecy, having spiritual implications and a spiritual interpretation! Therefore, this is not a prophetic word about literal trees, literal stumps, literal bands or literal dew! All this is to be interpreted spiritually, by the Spirit of wisdom from God! So what does it mean to “be wet with the dew of the heavens?” I believe this phrase has reference to the moving of the Spirit of God in the earth throughout our history! Every move of the Spirit, including the wonderful and glorious Latter Rain outpouring of 1948-1953, was only a little bit of “the dew of the heavens.” When it comes to the outpourings of the mighty Spirit of the Lord our God upon the earth, we haven’t seen anything yet! A greater glory is coming! A more mighty manifestation of the power and glory of the Lord shall yet take place! In this great Kingdom Day, we will not be blessed with just a little bit of the dew of Heaven, but we shall be blessed with RAIN, GLORIOUS, HEAVENLY, ABUNDANT, SPIRITUAL RAIN! The future outpourings of the Spirit shall be BOTH THE LATTER AND THE FORMER RAIN IN THE FIRST MONTH (Joel 2:23, James 5:7)! It will be Rain in fullness! He will come to us as RAIN in such abundance, that He will water the whole earth and everyone in it with His Life, His Love, His Grace, His Mercy, His Forgiveness, His Righteousness, His Fullness, His Peace and His Power! Our limitations will be gone, and we shall rise to manifest the power and glory of the Kingdom of God to all!

The next thing we read in Daniel’s prophecy is this: “ let him share the lot of the living creatures in the grass of the earth.” In other words, man must eat the fruit of the land, just as the animals do. Here we are, man made to be conformed to the image of God, yet, we eat the food of the beasts of the earth - we share the crops of the earth with all other living creatures. And what is even more humbling, man grovels in the dust of the earth, fighting with one another over the measly, paltry benefits of the earth, such as oil, food and money! What sad, mournful and limited creatures mankind has become! But we shall not always remain in this limited condition! God is on the move, and His elect are moving spirit-ually with Him! We are done with the dead ways of the past and are being prepared to drink of that fresh, new Kingdom Wine with our Lord in His glorious, powerful and transforming Kingdom of Life! And that NEW WINE will raise us to new heights in God, where we shall be gloriously transformed, to receive our new bodies of the Life and Glory of Christ! Then, we shall be free of the earth and its fruits, and we shall truly eat the body and the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, by His Spirit!

And then we read this from Daniel’s prophecy: “Let his nature and understanding be changed from a man's and let a beast's nature and understanding be given him.” If you ever doubted that this prophecy applies to all mankind, and not just to King Nebuchadnezzar, this word should confirm it to your spirit! This is the condition of all mankind! All people, and sometimes even the elect, are struggling with and generally manifesting “ a beast's nature and understanding!” Everything that an animal or a beast needs to be sustained in this world is also that which mankind needs! Our needs are no different than those of a beast! Like a beast, if we do not get the food we want, the shelter we want, the oil we want, and the other things of this world we want, we will fight for it to the death. We also have a beastly understanding, for we generally understand things in this world with our carnal, Adamic minds.

This same beastly, carnal mind has interpreted the scriptures, as well as all religious knowledge, with its own carnal mind and understanding. Carnal, beastly man has trampled the truth of God to shreds, until the truth is no longer recognized as the truth! Carnal man lives the life of a beast because he has a beastly nature! The beastly mind and understanding of man has made the world the wilderness that it now is (see Is. 14:16-17)! This same beastly man has created the three-fold Babylon system, which is now under the titular headship of one carnal, evil man in this world! Yet there are many Christians who support this carnal beastly leader! This is our condition, by the decree of the great God of Heaven and Earth! And this limited, beastly condition has affected all mankind, as it did Nebuchadnezzar, and will continue until seven times, or until the fullness of time has come. Father’s purpose in lowering us to this beastly state is “that the living may know that the Most High [God] rules the kingdom of mankind and gives it to whomever He will and sets over it the humblest and lowliest of men.” It is the Kingdom of God for which we all groan and travail! And it is the Kingdom of God, along with the doing of the will of God, which shall also rescue us from this fallen, beastly condition in which we now find ourselves!

The elect of the Lord are a different kind of tree! We are becoming all that the Psalmist said we would be! It is written of us, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And HE SHALL BE LIKE A TREE planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper” (Ps. 3:1-3).

Job likened man to a tree, when he said, “Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass; For there is hope of A TREE (the tree of man), if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs (or, children) like a plant. If a man die, shall he live again? (The answer is yes. And then Job confirms it by saying,) all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come. Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands” (Job 14:1, 5, 7-9, 14-15). What is the great work of the God’s hands? It is MAN! See Gen. 1:26, Isaiah 19:25, 45:11 & 60:21.

In God’s sight, man that is born of a woman is of few days, and those few days are full of trouble. Man’s life in this world has already been determined by the Father. He has appointed our bounds so that we cannot go beyond that boundary. But there is hope for the tree of man, that if he is cut down, he will rise again. The tender branch of man shall not cease. Though the root of man wax old and the stock thereof die, yet through the scent of water - give man a little bit of life in this world - and he will bud and bring forth boughs, or young trees (children) like the plant that he is. And when man dies, he shall surely live again. For those of us who cherish this hope, we will wait during our appointed time in this world until our change comes. Father will call us to come to Him, and we will hear Him when that call comes. We will answer Him with faith and assurance, knowing that He has a strong desire to complete His great work in the earth! And what is the great work of God in the earth? IT IS MAN IN THE IMAGE AND LIKENESS OF CHRIST!

And we are the firstfruits of that MAN! The Old Testament generally uses the word “firstfruits” in relation to animal sacrifices and the fruits of the land. But the New Testament generally refers to the saints of the Lord, or to the sons of God, as “firstfruits” unto the Lord. Paul wrote to the Romans, to say, “For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the FIRSTFRUITS of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, (or WHICH IS) THE REDEMPTION OF OUR BODY” (Rom. 8:22-23). Why do we groan and travail as we do? For the simple reason that WE ARE THE FIRSTFRUITS OF THE REST OF MANKIND! WE ARE THE FIRST OF ALL THOSE WHO SHALL EXPERIENCE “THE REDEMPTION OF OUR BODY!” “The firstfruits of the Spirit,” which is the Spirit of the Life of Christ within us, makes us the firstfruits of all those who shall follow us! Christ is the original firstfruit (1 Cor. 15:20-23); He is “the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep [in death]” (1 Cor. 15:20, AMP). And we are declared to be “a kind of firstfruits of (all) his creatures” (Ja. 1:18). Christ is the firstfruits of all those who died prior to His crucifixion, and we are the firstfruits of all those creatures, whether human or otherwise, who have lived since then.

John was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, which represents this present Lord’s Day, and also this new, Kingdom Day. While “there” he saw “the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being THE FIRSTFRUITS unto God and to the Lamb” (Rev. 14:3-4). “These are they...” who are the elect and chosen ones of this hour! We are among “the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.” We are those who follow the Lamb wherever He leads us! We are of those who were not defiled with the harlot “women” of Babylon, which are the many religious denominations, churches and systems of man’s creation! We are the redeemed of the Lord from among men of earth, and also the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb! As the redeemed from among men, we are the firstfruits of the full salvation of all mankind! As the first-fruits unto God and to the Lamb, we are the first to enter into the fullness of the Kingdom of God, to rule and reign with Christ! As the Father’s firstfruits, we abound with all the spiritual fruits and graces, which distinguish and describe a true saint of the Lord. And because we abound in His graces and His fruits, we shall be among the first to be changed into His glorious image and Heavenly likeness, having His character and His nature! What a spiritual responsibility we have!

We are members of that company of which it is written, “these are they that went over Jordan in the first month!” It is also written of this remnant company, this company of the redeemed, “these are they that came to David to Ziklag, while he yet kept himself close because of Saul the son of Kish: and they were among the mighty men, helpers of the war” (1 Chron. 12:1). Like David’s “mighty men” in history, we have a spiritual record with the Lord, as strong and mighty spiritual warriors in the Kingdom of God. We have been through many battles in this life! We have climbed many mountains in our spiritual experience! We fought and won many wars as we followed Him, Who is the Captain of our salvation! We obediently walked with our Lord, King, Savior and Master, with our hand in His, as He led us through the many twists and turns and complexities of this worldly life! As the Lord’s mighty men, and because we have a history of overcoming where others have given up, we will not be disturbed or discouraged when we see that the typical Jordan before us is now at flood stage!

What does it mean to us when the Jordan is at flood stage? It indicates that the forces of this world are all against us! There is much opposition to us and to the great Plan and Purpose of God that is before us! Death is everywhere! If it were possible, death would overwhelm us! Death is at its worst! The powers of sin and death clearly control this world! But we serve Him Who is Life personified! CHRIST IS LIFE, therefore, HE ALSO IS DEATH’S ANTIDOTE! CHRIST IS DEATH’S CURE! HE IS DEATH’S REMEDY! CHRIST IS VICTORIOUS OVER DEATH, HELL AND THE GRAVE! And nothing or no one can ever deter or discourage us, for we know who we are and also Who is within us! We know Him Who is the Source of all Life! When the time comes and the command to cross over this Jordan is clearly given, we shall surely and determinedly cross over that typical river of Life in Christ, which is death to Adam, to experience the fullness of the Life of Christ! And we will do so “in the first month,” which is the beginning of this present Day or age! It is the beginning of this special, new Kingdom Day; it is the Day and time when God is making all things new.

“And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred” (Mk. 4:20). “These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes” (Rev. 7:14-17). Furthermore, “These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God” (Rev. 14:4-5). “And these are they that waited” (1 Chron. 6:33), on the Lord for the appointed time, when His Word and His promises would be fulfilled! “These are they that went over Jordan in the first month, when it had overflown all his banks; and they put to flight all them of the valleys, both toward the east, and toward the west” (1 Chron. 12:15). Amen and amen!

When “these are they” crossed over Jordan in the first month, in history, and at a time when it overflowed all its banks, they obviously got involved in a war with the people of the lands on the other side of Jordan. And, since they were mighty men of war, who had fought and won many wars in the old land, they put to flight all the people of the valleys in that new land, both toward the east, and toward the west. In like manner, when we are confronted with the “enemy,” who may assume that they belong on the other side of the Jordan, we will also put them to flight. The many people of the various “brands” of religion in this world, who have attempted to come up by some other way (Jo. 10:1), may think they have right to the tree of Life, but they do not - not yet! We will put them to flight, for only the redeemed of the Lord belong in that wonderful, new Promised Land of the Kingdom of God! Christ is the Door; He is the Gate; He is the only Way of entrance through the “gates” into that holy, Heavenly “city” of God! Our Lord Himself said, “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie” (Rev. 22:14-15).

Scriptural Events Fulfilled “In The First Month!”

The Bible gives a few illustrations of some wonderful events which took place “in the first month.” For example, “And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry” (Gen. 8:13). A new Day in God began the moment Noah stepped off the ark, to resettle and reestablish the Kingdom of God in the earth, as it pertained to Israel of that era. As one who was to enter into a covenant with God, we read, “Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God” (Gen. 6:9). So also have we entered into a Covenant of Life with the Lord! And like Noah, we too shall be just and perfect in our generation; it also shall be said of us that like Noah, we too “walked with God.”

As it was in Noah’s day, the Lord would say again in this Day, “The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them” (Gen. 6:13). But because of His covenant with Noah, God will not again destroy the earth or the people in it by a flood, as He did in Noah’s day (Gen. 9:8-16, see also Is. 54:1`-10). Our loving and merciful Father will not destroy mankind for their sins, but He will judge and correct them, to prepare them to receive His salvation, even the full salvation of the Lord! “The end of all flesh is come!” This tells us that the end of the rule and reign of the flesh of man has come! It is the time when old sinful Adam shall be removed from the people of the Lord, thus setting them free to live the Life of Christ in glorious fullness! God’s answer, His solution, to the present sinful condition of the world is to call His elect out of the world and also out of man’s carnal religious and political-governmental systems, into the “ark” of Christ, where we are communing with Him, alone and outside the “camp” of the corrupt Babylon systems. Noah and his family were the only people who were instructed of the Lord to enter into the ark in history (Gen. 7:1). Even so has He invited His elect of this hour into the Ark of Christ, where we shall find refuge in Him during the “storms” of this present Day of the Lord!

How wonderful to know, “The end of all flesh is come!” Because of the beastly, sinful, Adamic flesh of man, “the earth is filled with violence.” All wars and trouble of every kind, as well as sin, death, chaos, confusion, hatred, violence, and anger, are all the result of the present reign of sin unto death. All those evils can be attributed to the beastly, sinful, Adamic nature in all mankind! But the reign of sin unto death is ending, while the reign of grace and righteousness unto Life is just beginning (Rom. 5:21)! As for us, the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has freed us from the law of sin and death (Rom. 8:2)! We no longer live and move in the flesh, for we are governed by a new law, which is the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ! The Day has come when God will deliver us of that wicked monster within us all! Like Job, we are waiting for our change to come! It will take place when Father calls us, and when we see Him! When He calls we will answer positively and in the affirmative, for we know He has a strong desire to finish the work of His hands, which is the creation of man in the image and likeness of Himself!

Since we no longer live and move in the realm of the flesh, we are also eating new Food, which is spiritual food from the tree of Life! The first Adam was shut out of the Garden of Eden and prevented from partaking of the tree of Life because he fell from his first estate! God took him down - the tree that he was was cut down, reducing him to the level of a beast - by the will of God. Thus we read, “For the creature was made subject to vanity (Adam and the whole creation with him was reduced to the vanity of this beastly realm), not willingly (or, not due to anyone’s will or fault), but by reason of him (God) who hath subjected the same in hope” (Rom. 8:20). Thank the Lord for that word HOPE and all it means to us! There is HOPE for the tree of man, that if it is cut down and limited by the Lord’s decree, it/he shall yet rise again to become a great Spiritual Tree in His Kingdom, to blossom and bud and fill the whole earth with the Life-imparting fruit of the Kingdom of God!

How shall we rise again to a new Life? By eating the eternal fruit of the tree of Life! God’s Word to us is, “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God” (Rev. 2:7). And where is “the paradise of God?” Where is our promised land of the Kingdom of God? It is just across the Jordan, which is the typical river of death! But that river no longer represents death to us, for Father is giving us a new spiritual mind, which is the mind of Christ. The typical Jordan is the river of Life for us now, for we are receiving a renewed mind; it is the spiritual mind that sees spiritual things in the greater Light of Christ! It is the mind that was in Christ, which is given to us, because of the processings that we have endured throughout our “life” in this world.

“And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. And I will give him the morning star. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches” (Rev. 2:26-29). What a powerful “ministry” that is! We shall be given “the morning star,” which is the star that pertains to the dawn of the new morning. The “morning star” is the Light of Christ that initiates and causes the dawn of the new morning of the Kingdom of God to begin in all the earth. Some may have assumed that they would “preach to the multitudes.” But Father has better and greater things for us to do! We shall receive the morning star, which is the Light of Christ within us that will enlighten the whole earth, causing the new Kingdom morning to dawn upon the world! And what a more excellent “ministry” that is!
