THE WORLD TO COME
These are They, Who Shall Reign in the World to Come!
That there is a world to come has been established and confirmed by the Scriptures of Truth! Our Lord referred to “the world to come,” (Mt. 12:32, Mk. 10:30 & Lu. 18:30); the Apostle Paul wrote about “the world to come,” (Eph. 1:21), and so did the writer to the Hebrews (Heb. 2:5 & 6:5). In that new world order, or “the world to come,” the sons of God shall reign with Christ over all the nations of the world. In that new world of tomorrow, there will be no sin (Dan. 9:24, Jo. 1:29, Rom. 5:18-21), sickness or disease (Mt. 9:35, 10:1); the curse will be removed (Rev. 22:3), the whole creation, including every creature, will be at peace (Is. 11:1-9), and the principles of judgment unto correction will no longer be in effect upon men and nations, as it has been during this present, second world order. This entire universe and everything in it and of it will be literally renovated, renewed and regenerated, by the power of God (Heb. 1:10-12)! Then, the principles of the Kingdom of God shall prevail over all, resulting in a better world, inhabited by people of faith who are making their way back to God, to partake of the Love, Life, Righteousness, and Glory of Christ and His Kingdom! It will be a perfect world for the perfect man!
The word, “world,” as used in the New Testament, is taken from three Greek words. We have already shown that the word “world,” as used in 2 Peter 3:6, comes from the Greek word, “kosmos,” meaning, orderly arrangement, i.e., decoration (the way the world appears outwardly), by implication, the world, including its inhabitants. In Matt. 12:32, Mk. 10:30, Lu. 18:30 and Heb. 6:5, the word “world” is taken from the Greek word “aion,” meaning an age, by implication, the world, specially a Messianic period. And in Heb. 2:5, the word, “world,” is taken from the Greek word “oikoumene,” meaning the earth or the world, the terrene part of the world, which is the earth and the habitable part of the world, rather than the sea. (From Strong’s Concordance.) In the past, I have generally understood the word “world,” to be an age, and so have many others. But now I have a new understanding of that word. I now understand that the word “world” should be interpreted to be a world order, to include, not only an age but the literal earth, the literal heavens, and the land and the sea as parts of the world. To interpret the word “world” as an age alone, presents a fractional interpretation or understanding, and does not give a complete picture of the world, as the scriptures show it to be. The “world to come” is more than an age, for it must include the literal heavens and the literal earth, and its inhabitants, as well as the spiritual Heavens, which establishes and governs each world order! It is a most wonderful truth to know that as we grow and mature spiritually, our understanding also grows, matures and increases with the increase of God! And I also believe that all who read these lines have also grown and increased spiritually, enabling us all to see new and greater things in the Kingdom of our Father, by the quickening and enlightening Spirit of revelation from God!
Our blessed Lord said this about that new world order, or the world to come: “Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, WITH PERSECUTIONS; and in the world (aion, age) to come eternal life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last first” (Mark 10:29-31). There is another world coming! It is not in heaven, nor is it on some other planet somewhere in the vast expanse of space! And it is certainly not another world order fashioned and governed by man! It is this entire, old universe, that has been changed, restored, transformed and made new, after the image and likeness of Christ, to be governed solely and exclusively by Christ and His elect sons! “The world to come” consists of a new Heaven, or a new realm of Spirit, as well as a new literal heaven, also called the firmament, and a new literal earth, also called the terra firma. For each new world order, there are three parts or components: there is (1) a new spiritual Heaven, or the administrative, ruling power of the Spirit, which initiates or brings forth (2) a new literal heaven and (3) a new literal earth. “The world to come,” is an entirely new world, and it must include these three components.
From the words of Jesus, we are to understand that “eternal life” will not be given to us in the old world of the past, but in the new world order, which is “the world to come!” “Eternal life” shall be given to us in this new, Kingdom Day that is just beginning, which also includes an entirely new world, or “the world to come!” Luke declared the same truth as Mark: “Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee. And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake, Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in THE WORLD (aion, or age) TO COME life everlasting” (Luke 18:28-30). Much of this walk has to do with forsaking friends, loved ones, worldly prosperity, business, power and position, giving it all up, leaving it all behind, and denying self. Peter knew this, so he said to Jesus, “Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.” Peter was actually saying, “Lord, we did all you asked of us! We left our fishing gear and our old friends when you called us and we followed you all the way! Since we have forsaken everything of this world to follow you, what shall we have of the things of this world? Will there be anything for us in this present world?”
Matthew’s account of the same story, gives it this way: “Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, IN THE REGENERATION when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first” (Matt. 19:27-30).
When Peter asked the Lord, “what shall we have therefore,” he was asking the same question any one of us might have asked. It was not wrong to ask that question, nor is it one we should be ashamed of. Our loving and merciful Father planned everything to perfection when He set forth His plans and purposes for us and for His Kingdom in the beginning. He was not surprised when Peter asked this, nor did our blessed Lord rebuke Peter for asking. When we follow the Lord faithfully and without compromise or hesitation, we may, at any time, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened” (Matt. 7:7-8). Peter obediently and faithfully followed His Lord! So he asked the Lord a question and received an immediate answer. To follow the Lord for us today is the same as eating His flesh and drinking His blood! And all who follow the Lord, as we are doing, will receive the necessary things of this world, and eternal life in “the world to come,” or in the next age, which is this present, Kingdom age, the age or the world that Jesus also called, “the regeneration!”
The word “regeneration,” means a spiritual rebirth, a renovation, or a Messianic restoration! In the wonderful age of the Kingdom of God, which is just beginning, there will be a Messianic Restoration such as we have never known! Not since the great flood of Noah’s day have we seen such a dramatic change, as we shall see in this world in this wonderful Day in which we now live! But in this great Day, we may see disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina! Yet, we shall also see a glorious renewal, a complete spiritual and literal renovation, and a magnificent Messianic restoration, which will be caused and initiated by the manifestation of the sons of God (Rom. 8:19-23)! And it will be far greater than anything any of us has ever witnessed or heard about in all the outpourings of the Spirit of the Lord, from the beginning of time until now!
The new age of the Kingdom of God on earth has already begun! We are now in the early stages of that age, which Jesus called, “the world to come,” or, “the regeneration.” A new spiritual Heaven, or a new realm of Spirit, has already come forth! And that new spiritual Heaven is changing us first, by imparting to us the new principles of the Kingdom of God on earth. And then, when we are living and walking according to the principles of the new spiritual Heaven, the sons of God will be manifested in great glory, resulting in a new literal heaven as well as a new literal earth! That will be the fullness of that which Jesus called, “the world to come!” And it is that “world to come,” over which we shall reign as kings and priests in the magnificent Kingdom of our Father!
Jesus said we would receive those hundredfold blessings now, in this time, such as houses, brethren, sisters, mothers, children and lands, but we would receive all that WITH PERSECUTIONS! How true that is! I am sure we can all testify to the truth that whatever we have received of this world’s goods in this life, it all came with some degree of persecution! Some of that persecution may have come to us from a distance and possibly without our knowledge, rather than face-to-face. And, if you are experiencing it, you know it; no one needs to tell you what form that persecution may take; you understand it, for you are going through it!
Our wonderful Lord and Savior also said, “But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.” What was Jesus speaking about when He said this? He was referring to “these are they,” receiving “eternal life,” or the Life of the Kingdom of God! One would think that those who were the first to begin their walk unto sonship would be the first to receive of its benefits! But our Father reversed the order and established a new Divine principle, which says, “But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.” Therefore, those of us who came into this walk of sonship at the LAST, in time and in the purposes of God, shall be THE FIRST to receive their inheritance in the Kingdom of our Father! This walk may take us through troubles, tests and trials, but we will remain faithful to our high calling of God in Christ! All who went before us are depending on our faithfulness, for they without us cannot be made perfect! Neither can we be made perfect without them! Father has provided something better for us! It is that we shall be made perfect FIRST, before all others, even though we were THE LAST to begin this walk unto sonship and perfection!
All who went before us obtained a good report, but they did not receive the promise. Why? Because our Father considered us, who were called to begin this walk at the last, when He set forth His great plan! Thus we read, “And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having provided some better thing FOR US, that they WITHOUT US should not be made perfect” (Heb. 11:39-40). Think what that means! All the early saints of God who suffered through this life, as we are, are resting, perhaps in a spiritual “paradise” in the Heavens, waiting for us to attain to “the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ” (Eph. 4:13). They died without receiving their inheritance, which is the fullness of the Life of Christ! Therefore, there is nothing any of them can do now but wait and hope and believe, fully trusting that we will make every effort possible to reach the goal before us, making it possible for them to be made perfect along with us!
While we may be crying out to our Father, asking Him to hasten the coming Glory of the Lord, they may be “watching” us and wondering why we are not “running” a little faster toward the goal, and quickening our pace to win the prize before us (see 1 Cor. 9:24-25, Heb. 12:1). Beyond that, there is nothing more any of us in this earthly realm can do either. The next event, which must take place to transform us, is the glorious appearing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! And when He appears, everything everywhere will change for the better! Then, as the firstfruits of many others to follow, we shall be transformed first, opening the way for those multitudes of the elect, who are in that heavenly, spiritual “paradise,” to be changed just as we were changed!
Father already has a wonderful plan in place and functioning now, whereby all His chosen sons shall rule and reign over the nations in the new world to come. Those who shall reign with Christ in the next world, or in “the world to come,” are not angels, nor are they of any other order, whether earthly or heavenly. They are of a new, spiritual order of man, who are being made into the image and likeness of Christ!
Then, we read, “Moreover, when He brings the firstborn Son again into the habitable world, He says, Let all the angels of God worship Him. Referring to the angels He says, [God] Who makes His angels winds and His ministering servants flames of fire; [Ps 104:4.] But as to the Son, He says to Him, Your throne, O God, is forever and ever (to the ages of the ages), and the scepter of Your kingdom is a scepter of absolute righteousness (of justice and straightforwardness). You have loved righteousness [You have delighted in integrity, virtue, and uprightness in purpose, thought, and action] and You have hated lawlessness (injustice and iniquity). Therefore God, [even] Your God (Godhead), has anointed You with the oil of exultant joy and gladness above and beyond Your companions. [Ps 45:6,7.]”
“And [further], You, Lord, did lay the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the works of Your hands. THEY WILL PERISH, but You remain and continue permanently; THEY WILL ALL GROW OLD AND WEAR OUT LIKE A GARMENT. LIKE A MANTLE [thrown about one's self] YOU WILL ROLL THEM UP, AND THEY (the present heavens and earth) WILL BE CHANGED AND REPLACED BY OTHERS. But You remain the same, and Your years will never end nor come to failure. [Ps 102:25-27.] Besides, to which of the angels has He ever said, Sit at My right hand [associated with Me in My royal dignity] till I make your enemies a stool for your feet? [Ps 110:1.] Are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service [of God for the assistance] of those who are to inherit salvation?” (Heb. 1:6-14, AMP).
In the Kingdom of God, every being, whether spirit or human, must find their place in Father’s Kingdom purposes, and then be content to stay there! Angels have their purpose, which is a purpose outlined and set apart by their Father! And the sons of God, in union with Christ, the first Son, also have their places in the Kingdom of God! Our place in Father’s Kingdom is to rule and reign, not over the present earth that is corrupted by sin and shame, but over the new earth, or the renewed and regenerated world, which is “the world to come!” To the Son, and all other sons who are in union with Christ (see Eph. 2:6 & Rev. 3:21), our Father has said “Sit at My right hand [ASSOCIATED WITH ME IN MY ROYAL DIGNITY] till I make your enemies a stool for your feet.” And again, “For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection THE WORLD (“oikoumene,” meaning the world and its inhabitants) TO COME, whereof we speak. But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him? Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him” (Heb. 2:5-8).
This scripture also informs us that God Himself laid the foundations of the world in the beginning, including the heavens and the earth, which are now. But, even though the present heavens and earth were established by God, they shall all pass away, to be replaced by a new and better world. Also, the former church order, which God created and established as His earthly agency of spiritual power and blessing in the world, has been removed by the Lord, Who created it and once blessed it! God never intended the church to endure and continue beyond the church age! The church had a temporary purpose while the Kingdom is eternal and includes within its structure and authority all the ages of man, along with Father’s purpose for each age! The church was purposed of our Father to bring forth the sons of God, and that Divine purpose has already been fulfilled! The church was an in part realm! And how can that which is only in part bring any one of us to perfection? It is impossible! The church order has been abolished, to be superceded by the fullness of God, which is Love! Thus, we read, “Love (or God, 1 Jo. 4:8 & 16) never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know IN PART and we prophesy IN PART, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me” (1 Cor. 13:8-11, NIV).
Indeed, the church order and all things of it, which was a comparatively “childish” order, has passed away and is passing away! We have become mature MEN, spiritually speaking! Therefore, we are putting all the in part and limited, childish ways of the former church order behind us forever! Some may suggest that perfection has not yet come. Certainly not! But it is also certain that spiritual perfection could never come to us under the old, in part and incomplete realm of church order! Only by leaving the church order behind and moving forward and upward in God can we ever attain to Divine perfection. Perfection is attainable for every one of us, but only if we follow the Lord very closely!
Not only has the old, church order passed away, but a new world is also coming forth! And that new world, including everything of it, must have a spiritual Heaven to govern it, just as the previous world order has had in the past. Peter gave us this sure Word of prophecy, describing the removal of the present world order: “But the day of the Lord will (has) come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements (parts or components) shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up” (2 Peter 3:10). Both the heavens and the earth, along with all the works of man, whether religious or otherwise, shall all be burned up and removed! But this is not the end of the prophetic Word for the heavens and the earth. After the old, present, or second, world order has passed away, a new and more glorious, third world order will then come forth! And that completely new world order is what Jesus called, “the world to come” or, “the regeneration!”
Peter also prophesied, saying, “But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men” (2 Peter 3:7). The heavens and the earth of the present, including all that is in them and of them, shall be judged, purged, corrected and transformed. Then we read this Word of promise for the present heavens and earth: “Like a mantle [thrown about one's self] You (God) will roll them up, AND THEY WILL BE CHANGED AND REPLACED BY OTHERS.” The present heavens and earth shall be burned up, and then transformed and restored by the fiery presence of the Lord! And since it is the presence of the Lord, Who is a consuming fire, that shall burn and destroy the old world order of the present, it is not likely that a literal fire will literally destroy this world! A spiritual fire, which God is (Heb. 12:29), will only burn away the dross of evil and other impurities, bringing forth a better, more perfect world! It is not our Father’s plan to destroy this world, leaving it uninhabitable, but to restore it and make it a beautiful and comfortable “home” for the redeemed of the Lord!
The Psalmist said, “Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven [stands firm as the heavens]. [Ps 89:2; Matt 24:34,35; 1 Peter 1:25.] Your faithfulness is from generation to generation; You have established the earth, and it stands fast. All [the whole universe] are Your servants; therefore they continue this day according to Your ordinances. [Jer 33:25.]” (Ps. 119:89-91, AMP). The heavens and the earth shall remain forever, but they will be changed! The present heavens and earth will be replaced by another heaven and another earth more glorious, more complete, and more like our Father planned and purposed them to be in the beginning! The Psalmist David, prophesied this about the earth, the heavens and the world to come: “Fear before him, all the earth: the world (the earth or the globe, including its inhabitants) also shall be stable, that it be not moved. Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The LORD reigneth” (1 Chron. 16:30-31). The word “stable” in this verse, means to be set up and established; it includes being made proper and prosperous. It is a word picture of “the world to come!” And then, in that new world, or “the world to come,” the heavens will be glad and the earth will rejoice, because of the grand restoration that has taken place. Then, many people will be able to joyfully declare among the nations, “the Lord reigneth!”
In the words of our blessed Lord, we see the wisdom of God declared and revealed regarding the world and the end of the age. Jesus said, “The field is the world (kosmos, meaning the orderly arrangement of the world, including its inhabitants); the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world (aion, meaning an age, it is the age that will end, not the world); and the reapers are the angels” (Matt. 13:38-39). The world (kosmos), will not end, but will remain to be changed and transformed “IN THE REGENERATION,” by the mighty, Spirit-power of our Father! But the world (aion), or the past age, on the other hand, will surely end and it already has!
There is a better world coming, and it will replace this present sin-cursed world! Also, there is a “man” who is responsible for the fallen condition of this world, and he is being removed from within all mankind! That “man of sin” weakened the nations, made the earth to tremble, shook kingdoms, destroyed the cities thereof, made this world a wilderness, and opened not the house of his prisoners (see Is. 14:12-17). That “man of sin,” also referred to as “Lucifer,” is none other than the sinful, Adamic nature and mind within all mankind! But Job predicted the end of that “man,” when he said, “His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off. His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street. He shall be driven from light into darkness, AND CHASED OUT OF THE WORLD (the earth and its inhabitants). He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings” (Job 18:16-19). When the world is set free of this “monster” of the flesh, every remembrance of “him” shall be removed from us, “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions (or the great transgressor) from us” (Ps. 103:12). That man of the flesh shall leave no sons or daughters, nieces or nephews, grandsons or granddaughters, or other relatives behind, for every trace of “him” shall be removed from the earth. It is the old, sinful Adam, the “man of sin” and the man of the flesh, that God shall remove from the earth by the fires of His consuming presence! Then, we will witness the wonderful new “world to come!” That will be the new, future world of the Love, Life, Peace, Justice and Righteousness of the Kingdom of our Father, which is the world of Father’s sovereign design and holy purpose!
Peter’s anointed, prophetic Word continues with these promises: “But the day of the Lord will (has) come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens (from the Greek, “ouranos,” meaning the sky, by extension, heaven as the abode of God. This word, “heavens,” means both the literal sky and the spiritual Heaven. Both) shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements (the orderly arrangement of things in this world) shall melt with fervent heat (to be set on fire), the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up (to consume wholly by burning). Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved (to loosen or break up), what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” (2 Peter 3:10-12)
It will obviously require a miracle from God of vast proportions to bring about the removal of the old world order, and create an entirely new world! Whether it will take place “with a great noise,” that may be heard with our natural ears, as this verse may indicate, is rather doubtful. But we are a people of faith, who believe in the tremendous miracle working power and ability of our Father! He shall do all He has planned and purposed to do! By a sovereign miracle of God, the first heavens and the first earth were created and given form and substance. Of the creation of that first world order, we read, “In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” (Gen. 1:1-2).
Consider what the creation was like before “the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” The Bible tells us it was “without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.” What that really means is that the earth was a wasteland; it was as a desolate desert and a worthless thing. The original language also indicates it was an undistinguishable ruin, possibly with the darkness of misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow and wickedness. But then the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters,” turning the former, desolate, worthless and ruined earth, into the wonderful, beautiful and comfortable, Edenic world, the world of the first creation! In that former world, or the world before the flood, there was the possibility or the potential for sin, which began with Adam, who ate of the forbidden fruit, and continued with Cain, who killed his brother, Abel. But in the new world, or “the world to come,” the inherent capacity to sin will no longer exist, for God will remove the Adamic nature and mind from all mankind, beginning with His chosen elect!
Furthermore, the face of the earth in the first world was watered by subterranean waters, for there was no rain on the earth. “For the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground” (Gen. 2:5-6). It is also highly likely that there were no hurricanes, tornadoes, cyclones, earthquakes, rain storms, wind storms, or rain, or snow, or other forms of precipitation to make the world uncomfortable for Adam, the man God created in His own image and likeness in that first, primeval creation. Nor was there the cold of winter and the extreme heat of the summer in that first world that was without the corrective judgments of the Lord, which we have now in this second world order. The world of Adam’s generation was a world in harmony with the man in God’s image and likeness! Yet, that first, Edenic world was destroyed by the great flood, for it was corrupted by man’s sin.
God took that desolate, worthless and ruined earth, which was without form and void, and made it into a prosperous and peaceful world fit for Adam, the man in His likeness. And He did it with the ease and the simplicity of moving by His Spirit upon the face of the waters! And when our loving and merciful Father of all determines to make this present world into the new world of Kingdom Life, Love, goodness, purity and righteousness, He may again “move upon the face of the waters,” turning this sinful, vile and corrupted world into the new, regenerated world, or “the world to come,” where there shall be Righteousness, Peace, Love, Life, Justice and Kingdom blessings for all!
Peter’s anointed, prophetic Word continues, by saying, “BUT WE LOOK FOR NEW HEAVENS AND A NEW EARTH according to His promise, in which righteousness (uprightness, freedom from sin, and right standing with God) is to abide. [Isa 65:17; 66:22.] So, beloved, since you are expecting these things, BE EAGER TO BE FOUND BY HIM [AT HIS COMING] WITHOUT SPOT OR BLEMISH AND AT PEACE [in serene confidence, free from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts]. AND CONSIDER THAT THE LONG SUFFERING OF OUR LORD [His slowness in avenging wrongs and judging the world] IS SALVATION (that which is conducive to the soul's safety), even as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the spiritual insight given him” (2 Peter 3:13-15, AMP).
Why should we, the chosen elect of the Lord, “BE EAGER TO BE FOUND BY HIM [AT HIS COMING] WITHOUT SPOT OR BLEMISH AND AT PEACE?” Because we are those Father has chosen to see the Lord when He appears! And when the Lord of Glory and Life appears to us in the immediate future, we shall become what He is, for we shall see Him as He is! In seeing Christ AS HE IS, we shall then be manifested as sons of the living God! And it is our manifestation as sons of God that will trigger the restoration and regeneration of the world, turning this corrupted, sin-cursed world into ”THE WORLD TO COME!” The weight of Divine Purpose that rests upon our shoulders is heavy, for all future blessings and promises regarding “the world to come” await the glorious appearing of Christ to transform us and create us anew into His wonderful image and heavenly likeness!
There are many things in this world that do not matter, or that matter only a little! We may not understand much about “the world to come,” but it is very important for us to “be eager to be found by Him [at His coming] without spot or blemish and at peace!” And this is the result of the work of the Spirit within us! By His Spirit, we shall indeed be found by Him at His coming to be without spot or blemish and at peace concerning all things! There are also many things in this world that we cannot change! When we see and understand those things that we cannot change, the wisdom of the Lord will help us to be at peace with those things. What we can change, such us our own attitude or possibly our own spiritual condition, may not bring us peace, for the holy Spirit is working within us to make us perfect even as our Father in Heaven is perfect. We shall then be without spot or blemish and at peace with all things! In all that is taking place within us, we know our Father is preparing us to see the Lord when He appears. That will be the manifestation of the sons of God!
The universe is in the process of change, just as we are! When the sons of God are gloriously manifested, we shall give birth to an entirely new world order in God; that will be a birth process that will begin and bring about the creation of the new world order, or the third world, which is “the world to come!” The principles and practices, along with the will of our Father, for “the world to come,” are already within and a part of the new spiritual Heaven! And it is that new spiritual Heaven, or the third Heaven of this new Day, that contains the Word and the Will of our Father for the new world of tomorrow! The principles and truths of the third Heaven, which is the spiritual Heaven of the present, are now guiding all the faithful elect into Father’s ways of Truth and Life! WE ARE RECEIVING NEW DIRECTIONS AND NEW ORDERS FOR THIS NEW DAY! And as we follow those new directions, we shall be made perfect as our Father in Heaven is perfect! This is also the “day of the Lord,” during which “the flaming heavens will be dissolved, and the [material] elements [of the universe] will flare and melt with fire? [Isa. 34:4.]” The present, literal heavens and earth are passing away. They are “in the process of being dissolved,” to be replaced by all the elements, the principles, the powers, the practices and the abilities of “the world to come.” And it is this future world, or “the world to come,” which God has “set” or planted into the hearts of His elect (see Ecc. 3:11)!
Therefore, in light of these great world-shaking, faith-challenging truths, “what kind of person ought [each of] you to be [in the meanwhile] in consecrated and holy behavior and devout and godly qualities, While you wait and earnestly long for (expect and hasten) the coming of the day of God.” The “day of God,” is no longer coming; it is here! It is the great Day when the flaming heavens will be dissolved, and the material elements or components of the universe will flare up and melt by the fires of His awesome and holy presence. This may not take place literally, but it surely will happen typically and spiritually. The fiery presence of the Lord may certainly “burn” away the heavens of this universe, dissolve them, and melt the material elements or components of the universe with the burning, consuming fire, which is God in all His holy, fiery presence (Heb. 12:29)! Not until all the elements of the past world order, which was an order of judgment unto correction, is burned up and removed, can we see the new heavens and the new earth, wherein dwelleth the pure and holy righteousness of Christ! But it will surely be worth the necessary, short wait!
Is It Always The Darkest Before The Dawn?
This is an old proverb or adage that may or may not be true! But, when it comes to the end of the ages of this world, we believe it is true and applies very well to the end of this world and the end of man’s ways and man’s systems! For example, every element or aspect of the present world order that is to end when this age-world ends are being expressed and manifested in a greater way than ever before. We have been writing about “the world to come,” and the many changes and improvements that will be made in the next world. We believe “the world to come,” will be a world without the severe storms and the harsh weather of this present world order. It is entirely possible and highly likely that a watery canopy in the heavens above the atmosphere will again be created, protecting the earth from those storms and the extreme weather of the present world order, as it did in that first, Edenic world.
But that which is about to end is giving the world one last display of its strong but fading power. The severe storms in the Gulf States, such as Hurricane Katrina, are one example of this truth. Many have lost their homes and their livelihoods as a direct result of those severe storms. But all those storms will soon be removed from the earth, for our loving Father is bringing forth a new Earth wherein dwelleth righteousness! When the Righteousness and Glory of Christ covers the earth, as the waters cover the sea, those storms will no longer trouble the world. Then, there will be a new world order created by our heavenly Father for the benefit of restored man, which is man in the image and likeness of Christ! And only the manifestation of the sons of God will make this possible! May we diligently seek the Lord for our transformation!
Sin and violence will also end, but it seems that both are giving the world one last display of their strong but fading power as well. When the morning of this new, Kingdom Day dawns, all spiritual darkness will be replaced by the transforming Light of Christ! Daniel, one of the Lord’s faithful prophets, gave us this promise, which may soon be fulfilled: “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to FINISH (prohibit) THE TRANSGRESSION and to MAKE AN END OF SINS, and to make reconciliation for (or, to atone for and cancel) iniquity, and TO BRING IN EVERLASTING RIGHTEOUSNESS, and to seal up (to end it by fulfilling it) the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy” (or, to anoint Christ as the King of kings and Lord of lords, as well as His throne and His Kingdom.) (Dan. 9:24). Does it not seem to you that sin and violence is much worse than in years past? But our Father will end all sin and violence! He will also “make reconciliation for iniquity, bring in everlasting righteousness, seal up the vision and prophecy, and anoint the most Holy!” The hour of the fulfillment of this Word is much nearer than we may realize! But there is no hope that any of these Kingdom promises shall be fulfilled without, or apart from, the manifestation of the sons of God!
It also is our Father’s plan to end all sickness and
disease in all the earth (see Matt. 9:35 & 10:1). The Lord promised His
people, Israel, “And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless
thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee”
(Ex. 23:25). And what God promised His people, He will eventually do for all
mankind! But have you not noticed also that sickness and disease seems to be
getting worse? Just when one disease is believed to be conquered, more diseases
infest the earth that may be worse! Can we not see that everything our Father
has purposed to remove from the world is now manifesting the last of its fading
power? Surely, the end of this world has come! Soon Father will replace this
old, corrupted, second world order with the new world of Kingdom Life. It is
that new world we desire, the future world, the world Jesus called, “the
regeneration,” or “The World to Come!” May our Father hasten
the “moment” of our transformation, which will be the manifestation
of His sons!
