THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM
Wisdom and What She Is
We have seen that Wisdom is the feminine Spirit of God, which works in harmony with the masculine Spirit of God, to do a typical, prophetical, spiritual work within us to bring us to maturity. Both work within us to discipline us, teach us and parent us, as we grow spiritually from infancy to adulthood, to become manifest sons of the living God! Knowing that Wisdom is as a mother and a teacher to us, we read these truths: “PRIZE WISDOM HIGHLY AND EXALT HER, and she will exalt and promote you; She will bring you to honor when you embrace her. She shall give to your head a wreath of gracefulness; a crown of beauty and glory will she deliver to you. Hear, O MY SON, and receive my sayings, and the years of your life shall be many. I have taught you in the way of skillful and godly Wisdom [which is comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God]; I have led you in paths of uprightness. When you walk, your steps shall not be hampered [your path will be clear and open]; and when you run, you shall not stumble. Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; guard her, FOR SHE IS YOUR LIFE” (Pro. 4:8-13, AMP).
We know God is our Father, and we recognize also that Wisdom is one of our spiritual mothers. Other mothers to us are the new Jerusalem spiritual realm (Gal. 4:26) and possibly the earth, for God created man from the earth, or out of the dust of the earth (Gen. 2:7). We have seen also that Wisdom speaks to us wherever we may be, giving us vital, wise counsel from the Spirit-Mind of our Father (Pro. 1:20-21)! Because of Wisdom’s work or function in our lives, we see ourselves in one of the wonderful and rich books of Wisdom, which is the Song of Solomon. In our previous booklet, we began our spiritual journey, in type or example, through the Song of Solomon. And now we continue that typical, spiritual journey with the second chapter of Solomon’s Song.
We had just asked our Father to remove from us those “little foxes” that were spoiling the precious vine, which we are in the Kingdom of our Father (Song 2:16-17). Then, “[She said distinctly] (Or we said) My beloved is mine and I am his! He pastures his flocks among the lilies. [Matt 10:32; Acts 4:12.] [Then, longingly addressing her absent shepherd, she cried] Until the day breaks and the shadows flee away, return hastily, O my beloved, and be like a gazelle or a young hart as you cover the mountains [which separate us]” (Song 2:16-17, AMP). Nothing anywhere in this world will improve until the day breaks and the shadows flee away, or until the morning of this new Kingdom Day dawns! Yet, our Beloved returns or appears to us at times while He is in that “far country,” to remove those “little foxes” from us that continually trouble us. He is girding us with strength and confirming to us the Truth that, “My beloved is mine and I am his!”
With this confirmed Truth as a shield and a buckler in our lives, we know we will make it all the way Home to Father’s House! Therefore, we will repeat this anointed Word of our Father until its vital, Living Truth becomes a part of us: “My beloved is mine and I am his!” While our Father is stripping us of all that is of the flesh and of this world, we REST securely in the blessed assurance that our Beloved is ours and we are His, not just for today, but for all the tomorrows and beyond; He is ours and we are His all the way through the eternal future with our loving and merciful Father!
The simple phrase, “My beloved is mine and I am his,” has profound meaning for all of us! This great Truth has its counterpart in the New Testament, where we read this: “You are not your own, You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body” (1 Cor. 6:19-20, AMP). The prophet, Ezekiel, also declared a parallel truth, which is: “Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine” (Eze. 18:4). And the Apostle Paul declared, by the Spirit: “For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's” (Romans 14:8). We belong to God! He is our all-wise, sovereign Father Who knows our destiny and is also leading us there!
When we grow to understand the full meaning of the phrase, “My beloved is mine and I am his,” we will also know with full assurance that we are no longer our own; we belong to our Father! We were bought or purchased with a price that is precious and valuable, which is the precious blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! And now, we are no longer our own, for we belong exclusively to God! Therefore, we will do what Paul said! We will “honor God and bring glory to Him in your (our) body!” Yea, and more than that, we will also acknowledge Christ as our Lord and King, allowing Him the full, exclusive and sovereign authority to rule our lives and lead us to the green pastures of His abundant Life! More than lip service is required of us when we fully under-stand this great Truth: “My beloved is mine and I am his!”
Because our Beloved is ours and we are His, He feeds us among the lilies, which is symbolic of the abundant Life of Christ. As the Lily family is among some of the most beautiful and enriching plants on earth, so our Father feeds and pastures His elect among the best and most satisfying spiritual “gardens,” where we shall be nourished and brought to a new LIFE in Christ! Lily is the common name for a family of more than 250 genera and about 4000 species of mostly herbaceous flowering plants, many with showy flowers, including tulips, lilies, daffodils, hyacinths, day lilies, and amaryllis. Other significant genera of the Lily are species that are cultivated as food crops, such as: onions, shallots, garlic, chives, leeks, as well as the asparagus. What an array of beautiful flowers and healthy vegetables, which are all symbolic of that spiritual food that provides us with HIS LIFE! By faith we are partaking of Christ that we might become all that HE IS! He Who is broken for us as spiritual Bread, is nourishing us and causing us to grow to the fullness of His Life! Jesus mentioned the Lily, as that which should be compared with the glory of Solomon (Mt. 6:28-34)! And the beautiful flower of the Lily is typical of that magnificent Glory of the abundant Life of Christ, which is far greater than Solomon’s glory; it is that same Glory by which we are being transformed, from glory to glory, by the Spirit!
And then, having the wisdom, the knowledge and the understanding
that “my beloved is mine and I am his,” we will soon realize that
our Beloved is also our Chief Shepherd, Who “pastures his flocks among
the lilies.” We are no longer eating man’s food, or the old manna
of yesterday, such as that stale, old Pentecostal food of the past, which includes
the gifts of the Spirit, church order and the meeting realm, for our Chief Shepherd
has led us to pasture among the Lilies, which are symbolic of the greater fullness
of the Life of Christ! If you are destined to be transformed into the image
and likeness of Christ, you will not be found among those who are still wandering
in and out of every meeting that comes along! Your Chief Shepherd has led you
to greener pastures that you might feed among the “Lilies” where
His Life abounds! Once you have partaken of the “Lilies” of His
transforming green pastures, you will never ever return to the old “vomit”
or “mire”of the past. For a true, called and chosen son of God to
return to the old ways of the dead past is likened to what some animals might
do: “The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed
to her wallowing in the mire” (2 Peter 2:22).
Then, knowing that our Beloved Shepherd is away in that “far country” (Mt. 25:14), we asked Him this: “Until the day breaks and the shadows flee away, RETURN HASTILY, O my beloved, and be like a gazelle or a young hart as you cover the mountains [which separate us].” We knew our Beloved is in that “far country,” or in the Heavens of His Spirit, which is a realm that now separates us! We know also that He is serving a wise and glorious purpose for our Father. And we have also learned that He will return to us at the appointed time, which is at the breaking of the Day, or when the morning of this new Day dawns. We know also that “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning” (Ps. 30:5). But we would like for Him to return to us occasionally, and to do so hastily, just to visit us, minister to us and share His precious Word with us.
Of course, we know He is within us in Spirit, but we simply long for more of Him in His awesome and holy Presence! We desire Him more than anything else! And we have the assurance, based on some of our past experiences, to know that He has visited us at times, by the Spirit, and will continue to visit us when Father directs Him to do so! How many of us have experienced those times of great glory when Christ appeared spiritually to do a work in the earth - especially in that “earth,” which we are? We also know that nothing any where will improve until He comes in the morning! Yet, until that glorious moment, we will live by this spiritual principle: “My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning” (Ps. 130:6). Let others pass the time of this Day waiting and watching for the morning to dawn! We will continue waiting “for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning!”
While our Beloved is in that “far country” we have a tendency to continue looking in strange places for Him. We may even have dreams and spiritual visions of Him that we might be changed more and more into His wonderful and glorious image and likeness. But Wisdom “saw” us dreaming one night, and this is what is recorded about that experience: “IN THE night I dreamed that I sought the one whom I love. [She said] (or, we said) I looked for him but could not find him. [Isa 26:9.] So I decided to go out into the city, into the streets and broad ways [which are so confusing to a country girl], and seek him whom my soul loves. I sought him, but I could not find him” (Song 3:1-2, AMP). At those times when the Lord seems to be so far away from us that we cannot find Him, we may look for Him in all those strange, empty places where we think He might be. We may look for Him in places made by man that are designated as places, or houses of the Lord, including some churches where HE ONCE WAS. But to look for Him where HE ONCE WAS, is like partaking of yesterday’s manna! He will not be found in the old Pentecostal order of churches and meetings, where He once was, for He has moved on beyond the Feast of Pentecost and the church realm. He will not be found in the churches that may have been called by His Name, where He might have been in the past, nor will He be found in the streets and in the broad ways of man, for He will only be seen and heard by the Spirit and in the Spirit! Our God is always and continually moving on to better and richer things! He is continually moving on to higher, spiritual realms of more abundant and greater Glory (Heb. 8:6)!
Those who are led by the Spirit will know with firm and deep conviction that their Beloved is no longer moving and functioning in the old Pentecostal realm, or the realm of the Feast of Pentecost. Rather, He has moved on beyond Pentecost, with its many wonderful, yet outdated glories of the past, and is now to be found at the more glorious realm of Tabernacles! One reason it is called “Tabernacles” is because our Beloved “tabernacles” or encloses us as well as Himself in a quiet and secluded place in the Spirit, and then invites His chosen ones to come and appear before Him! Thus, it is written, “And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles, When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing” (Deut. 31:10-11). By the Spirit, we will appear before the Lord in this new Day, to observe the Feast of Tabernacles! We will observe that Feast by hearing the reading of those specific, heavenly, spiritual principles and earthly values that pertain to the new spiritual order of the Kingdom of God on earth!
It is here, in the quiet and secluded place in the Spirit,
where we will find Him whom our soul loves! Rather than looking for our Beloved
in the cities, on the streets, and in the broad ways of man, we should look
for Him WHERE HE IS! And where is our Beloved? He is “in the SECLUSION
of the clefts in the solid rock, IN THE SHELTERED AND SECRET PLACE of the cliff”
(Song 2:14). No wonder we could not find Him! We were looking for Him in all
the wrong places! But to get there, where our Beloved is, we must climb “the
rocky steps up the hillside,” spiritually speaking, to get to that secluded
place “of the clefts in the solid rock, in the sheltered and secret place
of the cliff.” Because one must climb the typical “rocky hillside”
to be where our Beloved is, there will not be many who will attempt to make
this journey. The way is too hard for them! The majority of “Christians”
today have no desire for the high places in God! The rocky steps are too stony,
the hillside is too steep, and the way up that mountain is too challenging for
The way Father is leading us up this mountain is much too lonely and trying for the average “Christian!” If only more of our friends would join us on this spiritual journey, we would like it better! But our ways are not God’s ways! Our Father does things quite differently than the way we might do them! Only a small remnant from this era are called to make this journey! Only a small remnant, or only the “firstfruit” saints, will climb those “rocky steps up the hillside” to partake of His Glory! Yet, once we get “there,” we will find that we are among a vast host of believers from all the previous ages, who are also among this chosen company of firstfruit saints! Although they/we will be the FIRST to attain to His fullness, they/we are blazing the trail for many others to follow! And when we realize the great Glory to be shared when we reach the top of this spiritual mountain, we will count it a privilege to be called and chosen of our Father for this special journey of faith! The way then becomes attainable, the rocky steps more comfortable, and the general journey a little easier! We know it will be worth it all, when we see Christ!
There is a spiritual reason and a sovereign purpose in God for the present calling and separation of Father’s elect! The reason we are called to this walk while many others are not is because we were drawn by the holy Spirit to take this walk, while they were not called and chosen of God as we were. Early in our walk with the Lord we said to Him, “Draw me, we will run after thee” (Song 1:4). But how did we know to make that request? Where did those words or desires come from? They came to us from our Father, by one of our “mothers,” Who is the Spirit of Wisdom. By the Spirit, we were awakened and given these prayerful words to say to our Father! And so our loving and merciful Father drew us unto Himself, by the Spirit! He not only drew us and called us to come unto Him, but our Father also gave us hearing ears, enabling us to hear all He had to say to us! When we heard the rich, commanding and rewarding Voice of our Father, we determined to run after the Lord! And as long as our Father continues to draw us, we will run after Him, and will continue to do so “until the day breaks and the shadows flee away!” In fact, our running after the Lord, to see Him as He is, will cause the new morning to dawn! Then the new, Kingdom Day will break and the shadows will flee away!
As we searched for our Beloved, we came across some “watchmen,” and this is what happened, “The watchmen who go about the city found me, to whom I said, Have you seen him whom my soul loves? I had gone but a little way past them when I found him whom my soul loves. I held him and would not let him go until I had brought him into my mother's house, and into the chamber of her who CONCEIVED me. [Rom 8:35; 1 Peter 2:25.]” (Song 3:3-4, AMP). In other words, when we found our Beloved, the One whom our soul loves, we returned to our first Love (Rev. 2:4). Our wandering was over when we found Him! So we held Him closely and would not let Him go until we came back to our mother’s house, and to the chamber where we were CONCEIVED.
“Conceived” is the correct word used here to describe our initial salvation experience! We have not yet been “born again,” but we were CONCEIVED by the Spirit! Just like a natural conception, the Seed of Christ was planted within us when we were first saved. That is not a birth experience, it is a conception! Here again, the church system has it all wrong! No one as yet has been BORN AGAIN in the true, scriptural sense, for all who are saved initially are conceived, not “born again!” Jesus clearly and distinctly said: “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit” (John 3:6). In other words, when we are truly born again of the Spirit, we will then be transformed to become spirit! And then we will be given a new body like unto Christ’s glorious body of LIFE abundant! But first, WE MUST BE BORN AGAIN OF THE SPIRIT TO BECOME SPIRIT! We will truly be “BORN AGAIN” when we are transformed by the Spirit of Life from God, and given a new body like unto His glorious Body of Life abundant!
Peter was referring to believers, when he declared, by the Spirit, that we are in a process of spiritual growth, so that we are, “BEING BORN AGAIN, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever” (1 Peter 1:23). Thus, our spiritual BIRTH is an ongoing process taking place in our lives, which is bringing us to our transformation, or to be BORN AGAIN! Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be BORN AGAIN, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). In other words, we cannot possibly SEE the Kingdom of God, which is a spiritual Kingdom, until we are BORN AGAIN OF THE SPIRIT TO BECOME SPIRIT! In our present flesh and blood condition or state of being, we are unable to truly SEE THE KINGDOM! We can only really see the things of the flesh and of this world, unless or until the holy Spirit reveals the deep things of God to us! Paul also wrote to say, “But I tell you this, brethren, FLESH AND BLOOD CANNOT [become partakers of eternal salvation and] INHERIT OR SHARE IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD; nor does the perishable (that which is decaying) inherit or share in the imperishable (the immortal)” (1 Cor. 15:50, AMP). Therefore, we must be transformed, or we must be BORN AGAIN OF THE SPIRIT, to inherit the Kingdom of our Father!
Once again, we read this most important Truth: “I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, till he please” (Song 3:5). In this prophetic story, our Beloved is accepting the love and praises of His many daughters, which may represent the many realms of believers. And then the wise admonition is again given, telling all of us not to awaken our Beloved, “TILL HE PLEASE!” Nothing in the Kingdom of God is done in man’s time! Rather, it is all done in Father’s Time, or “TILL HE PLEASE!” This is the second time this statement is made in Solomon’s Song, and it is repeated again for the third time in chapter eight, verse four! Therefore, TIME must be a very important issue with our loving and merciful Father of all!
In the book of Genesis alone, there is the “process of time,” (4:3), the “set time,” (17:21), “the time appointed,” and the “time to come,” (30:33). Therefore, TIME is important to the Lord, and in all matters pertaining to His Kingdom! Not one prophetic Word or Promise given by the Lord will be fulfilled in man’s time, or in “earth time!” But all will be gloriously fulfilled when “HE PLEASES!” Many preachers and writers have attempted to come up with a formula that would reveal when a certain spiritual event would take place. But they have all been wrong! Our blessed Lord has left Word for us, saying, “It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power” (Acts 1:7). So why do some try to figure out the TIME of the fulfillment of the Word of the Lord, when the Lord has already told us “It is not for you to know the times or the seasons?” Everything in the Kingdom of God has both a PURPOSE to be fulfilled, AND ALSO A TIME when that purpose shall be fulfilled! All these “times” are precisely determined and fulfilled by our wise and loving Father, for He alone knows when those times are to be fulfilled!
Then there is this Word: “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law” (Gal. 4:4). Everything that is of God and that pertains to His Kingdom functions “according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will,” (Eph. 1:11), and, we might add, as it pleases Him (Eph. 1:11). Is TIME important and meaningful to our Father? Indeed it is, for all His works and purposes have a SET TIME, an ACCEPTED TIME, or a FULLNESS OF TIME, when that work or purpose shall be fulfilled, concerning both His people and the earth!
God’s Purpose for our Tests and Trials
As we continue our typical, spiritual journey through the wisdom of Solomon, which is the Wisdom of God, we read this: “Who or what is this [she asked] that comes gliding out of the wilderness like stately pillars of smoke perfumed with myrrh, frankincense, and all the fragrant powders of the merchant? [Someone answered] Behold, it is the traveling litter (the bridal car) of Solomon. Sixty mighty men are around it, of the mighty men of Israel. They all handle the sword and are expert in war; every man has his sword upon his thigh, that fear be not excited in the night” (Song 3:6-8, AMP). Here is a most beautiful description of the sons of God, or of the chosen elect of the Lord, coming out of the wilderness of their severe tests and trials in this new, Kingdom Day, adorned with the majestic and awesome Glory of the Lord.
We know those saints have been with the Lord and had partaken of His glory, after their “wilderness” experience, because they were perfumed! They bore the fragrance of myrrh and frankincense! And frankincense and myrrh are two of the gifts presented to the baby, Jesus, when the “wise men” found Him with His parents and worshiped Him (Mt. 2:11, see also Ex. 30:34-36). This beautiful story tells us, as nothing else can, that we will bear the fragrance of Christ, after we have endured all the tests and trials of this “wilderness” experience. As Jesus was given the fragrant gifts of frankincense and myrrh when the “wise men” found Him, so also shall we be anointed with the anointing of Christ, thus bearing the same heavenly fragrance of Christ, when we come out of this “wilderness” experience of these most difficult, yet life-changing tribulations, tests and trials! And every test and trial we endure is purposed of our Father for our good and the advancement of His Kingdom! The Lord is bringing us and the whole world to judgment that He might establish His Righteousness in all men!
In the book, “The Spirit of the Word,” A.P. Adams wrote this about judgment: “In Romans 14:10-11 and Rev. 5:13, it plainly indicates that the final result of standing before the judgment seat of Christ will be every heart brought into harmony with God, so that every tongue shall praise Him. `The law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off,’ and what will be the result of this judging and rebuking? blessing or cursing? Blessing most assuredly, for, “they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it” (Mic. 4:2-4). Thus we find God’s judgments spoken of in such a way that we are sure that they are always the expression of His love, and for the good of mankind.” (End of quotation.) Indeed, God’s judgments are always for our good and the good of all mankind!
The question was asked, “Who or what is this [she asked] that comes gliding out of the wilderness?” This “wilderness” is a typical wilderness, which includes our tests and trials! The question suggests that we will come out of it in victory! Then the answer is given: “Behold, it is the traveling litter (the bridal car) of Solomon. Sixty mighty men are around it, of the mighty men of Israel. They all handle the sword and are expert in war; every man has his sword upon his thigh, that fear be not excited in the night.” Here we see an accurate description of the sons of God, who have been prepared of their Father to war if necessary, that they might protect their Lord’s Bridal entourage! The body Christ, or His elect and chosen ones, are seen typically, in the Spirit and by the Spirit, riding the spiritual “bridal car” or “chariot” of Christ, which is taking them to the Wedding. At that spiritual wedding, the body of Christ, the elect of the Lord, or the sons of God, will be joined to Christ the Head. And what a joining or union that will be!
Solomon, the king of Israel at that time, is a type of Christ, the true King and Lord of all, in the Kingdom of God! The elect of this hour, or the holy remnant of the Lord, are Christ’s bridal entourage, traveling in His bridal “car” or “chariot!” Thus, in type, the bridal entourage of Christ, or His elect and chosen ones, are being protected from error, deception and other enemies as they travel to the great Wedding! They are being protected by those few warriors who are “the mighty men of Israel.” “Christians” in this new Day are giving in to the many errors and deceptions of man! But God has a small army of spiritual warriors, who are protecting Christ’s Bridal entourage from all that error and deception! And the hope of all mankind rests with and upon this bridal entourage of Christ! There are only “sixty mighty men” among those strong warriors, but there are enough of them to do the work assigned to them.
They are only a small remnant of Israel, but that is all the Lord needs for this very special task. “They all handle the sword and are expert in war; every man has his sword upon his thigh, that fear be not excited in the night.” By these “sixty mighty men,” who are “the mighty men of Israel,” the rest of the elect are protected from error and deception, and from the many terrors of “the night!” Therefore, if you are going on with God in this new, Kingdom Day, you may be among the “sixty mighty men,” who are guarding and protecting the bridal entourage of Christ, or you may be among those who are being protected from all the errors and deceptions of this hour. Both groups are part of the elect!
As the Lord’s called, chosen and faithful saints, we are seen in the Spirit, coming or “gliding out of the wilderness like stately pillars of smoke perfumed with myrrh, frankincense, and all the fragrant powders of the merchant!” Not only have we overcome and triumphed over all our enemies while in this “wilderness,” but we are also seen coming out of this “wilderness” arrayed in the Life-changing Glory of the Lord! And as we come out of this wilderness of our tests and trials, we are bearing or emitting the beautiful and distinctive fragrance of our Beloved Savior, Lord and King, thus confirming our oneness or our union with Christ and His glorious Kingdom of Love!
Some among us have the special gift of warring in the Spirit! We are among those “mighty men,” who “all handle the sword and are expert in war; every man has his sword upon his thigh, that fear be not excited in the night.” Although this sounds like these warriors are prepared for a literal war, we see ourselves warring in the Spirit, as the Apostle Paul described us, when he wrote, saying, “In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. Put on God's whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.”
“Therefore put on God's complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God, And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace. [Isa 52:7.] Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one]. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God” (Eph. 6:10-17, AMP).
It is interesting to see that this spiritual warfare has to do with this present “night,” or as the scripture states it:“that fear be not excited in the night.” Surely this is that NIGHT! This is a night of gross, spiritual darkness, such as the world has never known before! It is a night that may excite fear in many people, but not among any of the elect! Everything everywhere during this “night” time of gross, spiritual darkness is severely distorted, disjointed, disturbed, displaced, distressed, disjoined, disfigured, disunited and deformed, so that everything everywhere is twisted, warped, divided, agitated, upset and destroyed! Nothing anywhere is as it should be, for it all exhibits the corruption and the confusion of man! And it will likely get worse before it gets any better, for God is allowing all this confusion and contradiction to exist to teach us all that man’s way is the worst possible way ever!
All this gross darkness is getting us all ready for the glorious reign of the Christ on this earth! Only when we have ceased our support for man’s governments will we see an end to this Babylonish confusion! We stand in a similar place as Israel did in history when they desired an earthly king to rule them instead of the Lord. So, God told them, “This will be the manner of the king (president, prime minister, or any other man-oriented leader) that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots. And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots. And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers. And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants. And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants. And he will take your men-servants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work. He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants. And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.” (1 Sam. 8:11-18).
All the kings, presidents, dictators, potentates and prime ministers have been the same despotic leaders, just as the Lord described them, ever since that Word was given! ALL the elect have learned the great lesson that man’s ways, especially man’s governments, are the worst of all other possibilities! They have repented of their former involvement with man’s corrupt governments and systems, believing their Father will turn things around, end the misrule of man and initiate the wonderful and peaceful reign of the Christ in all the earth! Our present pharaoh is being used of God to teach us all this great lesson! And my question now is, when will we learn? Or, has anyone out there learned this great truth yet? Multitudes have yet to learn the great truth of man’s misrule! But the chosen elect of the Lord have already learned that great lesson of this “life!” They are partaking of THE LILIES, which are typical of THE LIFE OF CHRIST, in the rich, evergreen pastures of the spiritually lush and sumptuous Garden of the Kingdom of God!
And then we read this: “King Solomon made himself a chariot of the wood of Lebanon. He made the pillars thereof of silver, the bottom thereof of gold, the covering of it of purple, the midst thereof being paved with love, for the daughters of Jerusalem. Go forth, O ye daughters of Zion, and behold king Solomon with the crown wherewith his mother crowned him in the day of his espousals, and in the day of the gladness of his heart” (Song 3:9-11). Since Solomon is a type of Christ, and “the daughters of Jerusalem” represent God’s people, this prophetic story tells of the Lord making a typical, spiritual “chariot” or “car” for His elect, which will carry them to the great Wedding ceremony. That Wedding “chariot” will protect the Lord’s elect while taking them to the Wedding Feast where they shall be joined unto the Lord in a holy, heavenly union, making them one Spirit with God!
All the elect of the Lord should have moved on beyond the Feast of Pentecost with its faded glories, and on to the greater and more glorious Feast of Tabernacles. At the Feast of Tabernacles, we are seen spiritually in a small booth, tent or tabernacle, where we are worshiping the Lord in spirit and in truth, without the hindrances and limitations of “church,” and all it portends! But in the Wisdom of God, as expressed clearly in Solomon’s Song, we are now TRAVELING IN A CHARIOT, with our Father’s protection and care! Why are we seen traveling? Because it must be our constant attitude and desire to be ALWAYS AND CONSTANTLY MOVING FORWARD AND UPWARD IN GOD, by the Spirit! It is not enough for us to be sheltered in the secret place with God, by the Spirit, but we must always be continually traveling, continually moving forward and upward in God, by His Spirit! And we are, if we are in that heavenly, spiritual “chariot of fire!”
Our blessed Lord has prepared a “chariot” for us, which is not only protecting us from error and deception, and from the many false doctrines that abound during this Day of the Lord, but that “chariot” of the Lord is ever moving, and ever traveling! That spiritual “chariot” is seen furnished with all the spiritual finery available, such as pillars of silver, a bottom of gold, with the covering of it of purple, which represents the righteousness of the saints and their royal, priestly adornment. And then we are told that “the midst thereof (is) paved WITH LOVE, for the daughters of Jerusalem.” To show our Father’s special love and care for His elect, which we are, He paved or embroidered this “chariot” with HIS LOVE; and He did it just for us! Since God is Love, we know He is with us all the way through this spiritual journey Home! And that “chariot” of His abiding LOVE is taking us to our appointed destiny in God, which is that great Wedding Feast, where we shall be transformed to be forever and eternally married or joined unto the Lord, making us ONE SPIRIT ETERNALLY WITH GOD!
On one occasion, when Elijah and Elisha were walking and talking together, “that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof” (2 Kings 2:11-12). Thus, Elijah was transformed and taken to heaven in that “chariot,” by the Spirit and without dying. And that is what we expect will happen to us when we have reached the end of our journey! To confirm to us the truth that Elijah was transformed, we read that Moses and Elijah appeared to Jesus when He was praying. Moses and Elijah “appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem” (Lu. 9:31). Or, Moses and Elijah appeared to Jesus, in the Spirit and by the Spirit, revealing to Him the way He would die in Jerusalem.
Later, Elisha became sick and died, but was not transformed as Elijah was. Then King Joash came to Elisha, wept over him, and repeated the same words as Elisha did when he witnessed Elijah’s transformation: “O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof” (2 Kings 13:14). In other words, the same spiritual “chariot” that took Elijah by transforming him, also took Elisha by way of death. But, in our case, we have a very special spiritual “chariot” that is taking us to our eternal destiny in God. It is the Elijah “chariot” of the Lord, which is purposed of our Father to take us to be transformed by the Spirit, as Elijah was.
May the Lord, by His Spirit, assure each one of us that we
are IN THAT SPIRITUAL CHARIOT OF FIRE, and that we are traveling with Him! And
inasmuch as we are traveling in a specially built and elaborately furnished
spiritual “chariot,” we know we will make it to our appointed destiny
in Christ! And now we can sing this song with added understanding: “Swing
low, SWEET CHARIOT, COMIN’ FOR TO CARRY ME HOME.” This “chariot
of fire” will take us all the way Home to that spiritual realm of Glory
and Life, where we shall be changed into His resplendent likeness, to reign
with Him from His royal throne of all Power and Glory! Expect it and believe
it, for it is being done!
