Heaven on Earth

Heaven on earth is a term we have heard used to describe ones feelings of pleasure relating to an experience. For those who are born of God in Christ, it is their heritage. For those to whom the heavens have been opened, the kingdom has come and God’s will is being done in the earth, as it is in heaven. A people who walk by faith and not by sight, who are not moved by circumstance or situation because by faith, they look beyond, to the God of both. They are precious to God, they are His people, He dwells in them and they dwell in Him, in Christ.

In His presence is fullness of joy. However if we don’t Guard our hearts and minds by faith in the invisible, we can easily go the way of the world, and not realize Gods presence, by allowing the visible to become our god. It is natural to be earthly minded, not seeing beyond the visible things of this realm, as if all begins and ends there. However our Lord stood here on earth and said, “No man hath ascended into heaven, but He who came down from heaven, even the Son of man, who is in heaven”. The Son was experiencing the presence of the Father and all the benefits of that experience, while standing here on earth.

We as believers in Christ, are not natural but spiritual. We are to have a heavenly perspective of things, not only as a place we will go someday, but as an everyday experience, having been born from above into the kingdom of Heaven. God created the earth to be inhabited, with those born of God, experiencing God, this is why we are taught to pray: “thy kingdom come, thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven”.

God is in the moment

He is called the “I Am”, because He is forever and always God. In every moment of every day, to believe we walk in His presence is to experience heaven on earth. By faith, we believe this to be true, though we cannot change the truth of it, whether we believe it or not.

In our consciousness, we can be unaware of this truth by walking by sight and having more faith in what we see than the truth. The truth is that God is working out His purposes in the earth, to establish His kingdom, through a people who are heavenly minded. They, are not deterred by what they see nor discouraged. They know God to be in every moment and every situation and to be for them and not against them. They know Him as their provision, He is wisdom onto them, their healer, their righteousness, He is their peace and they are His workmanship. They know that if God is for them, then who, or what can be against them.

They do not dwell on the past, because they have none. They fret not about the future, for they are secure in him and their future is sure. They inhabit the present, for the life of God and the very presence of God is! Anxiety operates when we dwell outside of the present moment. The shadow of the past will haunt us at every step if we allow it’s influence. Concerns about the future; what we shall wear, what we shall eat, where we will find shelter, all these keep us in a state of mind that will not allow us to rejoice in the moment where God ever dwells. That state of mind in Scripture was called, an evil heart of unbelief and it keeps us from experiencing the rest of God, or heaven on earth. It keeps us from entering the land because the giants in it appear greater than God’s promise that they will be bread for us.

Before we can ever expect to be a proper witness in Christ to a lost and dying world, we must first appropriate the life that Christ died to give. A life lived in the power of the Spirit, requires believing you are a new creation. That indeed, old things are passed away and behold, all things have become new. That we are in the world but not of the world. That we are from above and not from beneath, seated with Him in heavenly places, partakers of His divine nature through exceeding great and precious promises. This is basic truth, upon which all else depends.
